Download Skype Extras

People never really appreciate Skype until they need to contact a loved one from long distance but don't get me wrong, many people also download Skype because it is a great software for chatting with friends via webcam rather than the outdated MSN messenger.

I recently started to use Skype on a regular basis after I had a holiday romance and tried to stay in contact using the software, I must admit that although there were a few difficulties applying the regular upgrades my overall experience was terrific.

I think my version of Skype is 5.8 which is fairly new at the time of writing this but when I upgraded I noticed I could not find the games which used to exist automatically in the previous versions. Now if you have been searching online for a way to get Skype games back you might have read that you need to go to Tools>Extras but this no longer supported either and you will see that it is blanked out.

Skype has recently replaced Extras with the Skype App Directory, yes you guess it, they are following suit with Apple's App store.

There are a few games which are still free to download from the App Directory, this includes FireArc Arcade - a package of 'Multi-Player Paint', 'Connect4', 'Tic Tac Toe', 'Navy Ships' and 'Table Tennis'.

To find these Apps at the Directory simply visit shop.skype.com/apps/ and then click 'Advanced Search' under the search bar. Once you are at Advanced search, choose the criteria 'Games' and 'Free'.

Naturally some of the better games such as the one to the right 'Chinese Checkers' is bit better graphics wise and many of these type of games are available for Free trial and then a one time fee of around $6.

As we are all aware social networking now also plays a vital roll in business and marketing, therefore it should not be ignored that Skype is very useful for things such as conference calls and I have seen many online jobs request an interview via Skype.

With the latter information in mind, it is good to search the Skype App Directory under the Business categories since there are also free Apps such as a scheduler that reminds you when an important online meeting is supposed to start. Note that you can include 3 way calls in Skype which means various colleges can discuss a project together.
