Unplanned Pregnancy
Today I have decided to skip my usual topics and focus on the current affairs regarding the 'Planned Parenthood' organization and also give my opinions on the social issues which result from unplanned pregnancies because I think it is a problem which is simply swept under the carpet and ignored by the majority of the populous.
Planned Parenthood is an independent charity which offers advice and support for women and couples who want to avoid an unplanned pregnancy and this involves information regarding birth control, the morning after pill and abortion.
The Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation which is a breast cancer advocacy group, announced in December 2012 that it was to discontinue its funding of the Planned Parenthood program and this leaves mainly donations as it financial backbone.
Surely with statistical reports* claiming one parent families are on the rise in the UK, government funding should step in to support the projects which are working to educate young people on ways to plan their future.(BBC NEWS)

Why We Should Plan Parenthood
Many people overlook the dramatic increase in teen pregnancies and do not see it as a major issue, they believe it is simply a natural occurrence and that we are ensuring the 'continuation of the species'. I believe the latter to be a poor excuse, there are always going to be enough child births to produce the next generation of humankind without being reckless.
Don't get me wrong on this issue, I know that life doesn't always go perfectly and not everyone will do things in the order of 'Get A Good Job>Get Married>Have Kids' and I know people who have had children young and are great role models as parents.
However, I have major concerns and frustrations at the direction in which the UK society is headed in terms of educating its youth. I am not familiar on how the U.S welfare program operates but in Britain a single mum will be placed at the top of the council housing list, paying much lower rent.
The grand parents of the child usually end up doing most of the parenting from cases I have witnessed first hand, allowing the mother to go out and work or either claim jobseekers allowance which covers their rent.

We're setting a bad example when teenagers expect an easy route to getting a house and it is the hardworking taxpayer's money which goes to providing the benefits to cover cost of living.
There have been plenty of examples in the newspapers, the UK's most prolific single mother who has 14 children and receives £2000 a month in state handouts. It was confirmed last year that her oldest daughter of 15 is also pregnant and the father is 'not present', she is also now claiming benefits.

So where do I place the blame? I neither blame a man or a woman, it is equal responsibility to protect each other and there is no excuse not to plan parenthood.
The media doesn't help when it over promotes models dancing with very thin layers of clothing, but some men should show some restraint and not see women simply as objects to satisfy their desires. While some young girls see pregnancy as a way of staying attached to a man they love, although the reality is that they will miss out on many highlights of their youth when this happens.
