As you woke this morning how many people often have these questions past through their mind, 'How are you feeling? Are you happy with your appearance? Have you got a grip on where your life is heading?'. You could be in your mid-twenties and still finding it hard prosper or even make ends meet in todays business obsessed world. You may find a lump in your throat as everyone discusses last nights must see TV show at the tea station in work. You may have slipped into the routine of grabbing that quick 'fast food' fix at lunch time because work eats into your private time enough for you to prepare a tasty and healthy packed lunch every evening.

Social anxiety can have a devastating affect on a persons mental condition and physical health. You need to smarten up if you want to compete, Viagra is readily available online, and why not look into surgery or implants to look more beautiful?

'As well a successfully treating ED, many couples turn to Eriacta to improve and spice up their love life. Most users are able to perform successfully for much longer periods of time and without worries concerning the loss of erections. In short, Eriacta offers a much improved sex life, not just to those suffering from ED but also to users who want to make a satisfactory sex life into a truly fantastic sex life.' This is a quote from a successful 'Generic Viagra' website I have visited, so to summarise, the drug business has broadened its market to people who are not even diagnosed with Erectile Dysfunction.

We should be grateful to modern technology and consumer capitalism because now are bodies are not just something to work with but also to work on. Our lives are now seeming like an assignment which we need to constantly plan for and control to make the most of. Its no wonder so many people feel low when the look in the mirror when waking each day, but don't worry pharmaceutical companies are ready and willing to sell you the latest anti-depressant.

All antidepressants cause side effects. The most common problems are sleepiness, a dry mouth, constipation, nausea and sexual problems. These drugs can be dangerous to children. Elderly people are more likely to have a fall if they take antidepressants. And if you take too much of an antidepressant, you may damage your heart.

So in conclusion we can see these 'reliefs' from anxiety come with drawbacks. The mind and body are intimately connected, and the relationship with mind to the body in meditation is interesting option. By creating peaceful feelings in the mind, the body is absorbed in those feelings. So although the body is the object to be improved, it also becomes the means of healing your mind, which is the ultimate goal.

would go many steps further and say that the spirit drives the mind and body, and that part of our being is sorely neglected, no drug for that!

Great job.... When George W. was president out here "consumer" became synonymous with "citizen"....

People need to spend more time in true self reflection, thinking critically about what they are doing to and with their bodies....

Thank you...

good hub Richie! I think you have several good points, there is so much that can be said about consumerism in America, and several other countries as well!

Capitalism may enable consumerism, but it doesn't cause it. In fact, Capitalism brings out the best in people. It stabilizes society, fosters creativity, rewards initiative, promotes cooperation, engenders civility, and encourages personal responsibility. People who possess those virtues also make better neighbors and a better society.

There is plenty of evidence we need to reform our values, but we should not mistake that for a need to reform the economic system that has allowed the United States to prosper.

Socialism is far more devastating to a young person's character than capitalism, as this lemonade stand video illustrates. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4R0F5DdvhE

Interesting that you are talking about "Post Humanism" and are asking some of the very same questions that we are. Perhaps take a look at this and see if you agree with what we've written: http://hubpages.com/hub/The-NeoHumanist-Manifesto
