Alvin the Movie - Chipmunks 3

If you have never heard of the Chipmunks in your life time then you've probably never owned a TV! I remember waking up to Saturday morning cartoons when I was about 10-11 and you would be greeted by the theme tune 'We're the Chipmunks, stronger than ever before, Alvin, Simon and Theodore!'

Alvin was the cheekiest of the 3 chipmunks and the leader of the mischief! Simon was the brainiest and always acting the big brother, whist Theodore being the smallest was the baby of the group and always acting frightened!

Since the Bagdasarian Productions 1980's cartoon, Alvin and the Chipmunks have seen their popularity reach its peak with movie's distributed by 20th century Fox, one in 2007 and including a sequel or 'Squeakquel' in 2009.

I personally think it is great that these guys have been updated since the original story lines of cartoons in the 80's were much better than today's ideas but the graphics were very poor. In the old cartoons it was hard to distinguish that they were in fact chipmunks because their clothing nearly all of their bodies and it was only the buck teeth and fluffy head that identified them.

In the first Alvin the movie the 3 chipmunks are evicted from their tree home when it is cut down and transported to LA and on arrival they run into a struggling songwriter called David Seville who they follow back to his apartment. As we all know from the cartoons, the 3 chipmunks can sing in a slightly annoying high pitched voice and for some reason David agrees to house the chipmunks if they sing his songs for him. The rest of the film consists of them forming a bond, David must save them from being exploited by a greedy record executive and their is also a romance story that runs alongside the main adventure.

In Alvin & the Chipmunks the Squeakquel, Ian is performing at a benefit concert when he becomes injured and must ask his aunt to look after the Chipmunks and they are enrolled at a school. The Chipmunks later find themselves in the care of Toby, Dave's aunt's grandson.

Ian Hawke who is the greedy record executive in the original movie has meanwhile discovered a talented group of female chipmunks called 'The Chipettes' who he plans to use to gain revenge on the boys.

So the question you are asking yourselves is 'When is Alvin and the Chipmunks 3 being released in cinemas?' Well, I have been researching and have found that there is indeed a Chipmunks 3 'Chip Wrecked' being made and it is scheduled for release to the public on December 16, 2011.

I was unable to find an official Chipmunks 3 trailer to embed but I thought the below 'Fan-made trailer' was entertaining.

The plot for 'Chip-Wrecked' sounds even more exciting than the previous movie's because this time Dave, the Chipmunks and the Chipettes become stranded on a desert Island when a luxury cruise holiday goes wrong! A new 'castaway' chipmunk is introduced who gets up to even more trouble than the original chipmunks are used to and all the while Dave is stressing to bring AWOL charges to the ship company.
