YT | YouTube?

I was hesitating to write this hub but I recently discovered some quite bizarre and shocking news while doing keyword research, 'YT' as an abbreviation for Youtube is actually searched for 13 million times every month.

You may ask, 'how do I know this is what people are searching for?' Well I have plenty of adequate proof to back this up and I will proceed to explain.

First off I would like to say that I typed in 'YT' just to see whether the search results returned were related to Youtube and I was given plenty of listings referring to sites like 'YTLayouts.com' for Youtube Layouts and 'YT-Subs' for Subtitles to the videos. Anyone can look and see what is number one spot.

Now for the hardcore statistical proof, the shortened search term 'YT to MP3' gets 14,000 exact searches a month and they are all looking for sites which change Youtube videos to MP3's you can download. I want to warn you that it is very likely illegal depending on what videos you choose, the musical artists lose out when their music gets shared online!

You can see in the image to the right that I actually found one of these suspect sites, this is only verified more when other search terms such as 'YT Converter' gets a Whopping 27,000 monthly searches and YT MP3 gets 8,000.

What I don't understand is a large amount of people must actually type the acronym into their address bar as well since I saw 'www.yt' gets 8,000 searches and 'yt.com' gets 2,900 exact searches per month according to Google keyword tool.

I always heard that Marijuana smokers 'Whitey' when they overdose on the drug, perhaps this is what these searchers are doing, since the only site that exists at this address is a Japanese web hosting company.

Lastly I wanted to mention something else rather funny which I found and I doubt its why millions are searching, this is a white Reggae singer by the name of YT!

He's fairly popular and his songs have been played just over 100 thousand times on his Myspace profile, however, I find it funny how he has a Jamaican accent and lives in the UK!

Whatever the reason for searching and typing YT in Google and your browser, people need to stop displaying their idleness and have a bit motivation when looking for entertainment!
